Upload a Universe to a Hytale Server

A Universe contains all save data such as Worlds and player data. For uploading an individual World, check out this guide (link).

If you have a single player save you would like to convert into a multiplayer server, this guide will take you through how to upload a Universe save to a server.

Find the Universe

To start, you will need to find where your Universe is saved. If you have a Universe that has been shared or downloaded from elsewhere, you can use this, too. These instructions will show how to find a Universe created in single player.

1. Start the game.
   Open the Hytale Launcher and press Play to start the game.
2. Click on Worlds.
   When the game launches, click on Worlds to open up the single player saves.
3. Open the save in a file explorer.
   Right-click on the save you would like to upload, then click on Open Folder. This will open the save's folder location. The folder to upload will be called universe.

Upload the Universe

Once you have found the Universe to upload, the next step will be to upload it to the server.

Stop the Server

Before uploading the Universe to the server, make sure the server is stopped!

1. Login via SFTP.
   Log into the server files via SFTP. Check out this guide for more information.
2. Remove the Universe on the server.
   Before uploading the desired Universe, remove the universe folder already on the server in the Server folder.
3. Upload the Universe to the server.
   Drag the universe folder into the Server folder on the server. This folder should contain two folders: players and worlds.
4. Click Start.
   Once the folder has finished uploading to the server, start the server
