Minecraft Mods
The base Minecraft game experience is great, but some people want to make changes and modifications to the vanilla gameplay experience. You can do that at Akliz in just about any way possible. If you run into any problems attempting to mod your Akliz server, please make sure to contact our support team.
The Easy WayThe absolute easiest way to modify Minecraft is to use one of our hundreds of quick install modpacks. Log in to the Server Dashboard and then you can choose from them here.
Modded Servers
Resource and data packs are great! But what if you want to fundamentally change the way the game works? That is where mods and plugins come in.
What are Mods?
When you hear about mods for Minecraft, people are usually talking about addons that are based on the Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge APIs. These usually add new items and blocks to the game, making it so you have to have the mods installed on both client and server.
Which modding API do you want to use? That depends on the mods you want to use. Once you've researched the mods, they should tell you if they need Forge, Fabric, or NeoForge. Then you can install the correct one on your server.
What is a Mod Loader?
A mod loader is a way to play with mods on Minecraft. They create a bridge that allows for a mod's code to be loaded into the vanilla game. As such, a mod loader is important to have in order to play with mods.
Minecraft Forge
The Minecraft Forge mod loader is the primary way to load mods made for Minecraft Forge.
Fabric
The Fabric mod loader is a lightweight mod loader designed for loading mods made for Fabric.
NeoForge
The NeoForge mod loader is a fork of the Minecraft Forge mod loader, containing different tools that are made for NeoForge mods.
How to install Mods
Client
In order to modify the game, the mods will need to be installed to the game, also known as the client. For a detailed breakdown on how to install a mod to the client, check out this guide:
Server
Mods will need to be installed to the server in order to connect with a modded client. Most mods will need to be installed on a server, but a mod that is "Client Only" can be left from the server files. Check out the following guides on setting up a modded Minecraft server on Akliz.
- Install a Mod to a Server
- Manually Install a Mod Loader to a Server (Check out our server options for a blank mod loader server)
Modpacks
Modpacks are tailor-made experiences of modded Minecraft. They can range from a small selection of tweaks and changes to enormous themed modpacks. There are hundreds of modpacks available for quick installation, so check those out here. We also have guides written just for setting up a server with a custom modpack.
We also have guides on creating a modpack for publishing.
Modded Clients
Modpacks often require a modded client in order to download and manage files. We have a few articles on some of the most popular launchers available, and how to install modpacks using them:
