Eco Server Performance

If you find that your Eco server is experiencing server lag, there are a few things that may help. These instructions are for the Akliz Command Center, but can be used as a general guide for most Eco servers as well.

Eco is still in early access, and you may run into performance drops. While these suggestions often help, they are not guaranteed to work 100% of the time.

World size

We recommend using the default world size. This will be the most performance-friendly option. For larger sizes, we do not recommend going higher than needed, as it may decrease the performance of the server later in the game.

Regular restarts

We recommend having the server restart on a regular basis. At least once per day, but many servers choose to restart 4 times per day or more, to avoid performance drops.

  1. Log into Command Center.
  2. Click on the gear icon and then on Scheduled Tasks.
  3. Click on Schedule Restart.
  4. Pick a time for your scheduled task to begin and set the Restart Every option to 12 or 6 hours.
  5. Click Save.

Config edits

This may improve the performance of your server, but may make it slightly unstable. Make sure to create a backup before changing any config settings.

  1. Stop your Eco server.
  2. Navigate to the "Files" tab of your Eco server.
  3. Navigate to and open /eco/Configs/WorldObjects.eco.template
  4. Change the line "ParallelWorldObjectTicks": false to true.
  5. Save the file, and start your server.

Other tips

  1. Keep the world clean of loose items. Too many items scattered around, not in storage, can cause lag to build up.
  2. Cut down on small blocks of water and large portions of flowing water (not counting rivers).
  3. Avoid installing too many mods, or mods that add a lot of things like animals. Removing mods may increase performance.
  4. Keep the game updated, and keep an eye on what the updates add or fix.
